The Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training says it has temporarily shut down two British Columbia websites after both appear to have been compromised.

The home pages of StudentAidBC and LearnLiveBC were altered Sunday and replaced with a statement allegedly from a hacker group.

The affected sites offer application assistance or details about scholarships, grants, bursaries, loans and other financial programs for post-secondary students.

A statement from the ministry says it has been alerted to the problem and is investigating, along with the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

The ministry says it is not aware that any personal information has been compromised. Both sites have now been disabled to prevent any further exposure while the ministry says its information technology staff are working to fix the issues.

Vigilance has seized 29 mobile phones, 4 laptops, 2 iPads, 8 diaries and other documents from Majithia’s house. This new case comes at a time when a drug-related case registered against Majithia under the NDPS Act in 2021 is already under investigation. Majithia said that this entire action is being taken with a sense of political vendetta but he is not going to be intimidated by it.

Calgary Stampede rodeo safety to include shaded pens, heart monitors for horses

Tents are being set up to provide shade for bulls and broncs, and some chuckwagon horses are to be fitted with tiny electrocardiograms at the upcoming Calgary Stampede.
