Two people have been arrested after a truck stolen from Vancouver crashed in Surrey the following day.
According to the Surrey Police Service, the incident came to light on Thursday afternoon when an officer patrolling the 5600-block of 144 Street received an alert from the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, identifying the vehicle as stolen.
Police maintained a safe distance while pursuing the truck and received assistance from the Air 1 helicopter.
Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said the truck driver was operating the vehicle in an extremely dangerous manner before eventually colliding with several other vehicles near 104 Street and South Perimeter Road. The truck came to a stop after its front end was damaged.
Officers immediately arrested the driver, while the second occupant attempted to flee on foot. Police chased and apprehended the individual a short distance away.
Both suspects are facing charges related to property damage and dangerous driving. Their identities have not been released.
