A 42-year-old Lethbridge man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 27-year-old man, marking the third arrest in the case, according to a police news release.
The Lethbridge Police Service said the accused was arrested late Monday following the execution of search warrants at two residences on Mt. Crandell Crescent. Two other men were previously arrested on March 28 in relation to the same investigation.
Police said officers and EMS responded to a report of an assault at approximately 6:30 a.m. on March 27 at an apartment complex in the 200 block of 7 Avenue South. An unresponsive man was found inside a unit and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified by police as a 27-year-old Lethbridge man.
According to investigators, evidence suggests the homicide was a targeted incident involving individuals known to each other. Police have charged Nicholas Rodney Scout, 42, with one count of first-degree murder. He remains in custody pending a judicial interim release hearing.
The investigation is ongoing. Police said no further information will be released at this time.
