Dissension continues within the Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab. Amid growing rebellion against Sukhbir Badal, the party's disciplinary committee has thrown out 8 leaders of the rebel faction from the party.

Gurpratap Singh Wadala, Bibi Jagir Kaur, Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Sikandar Singh Maluka, Surjit Singh Rakhra, Surinder Singh Thekedar and Charanjit Singh Brar are included.

After the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, these leaders were openly demanding the resignation of Sukhbir Badal. They said that the situation of Shiromani Akali Dal has deteriorated as soon as Sukhbir's whim followed.
