As panchayat elections continue in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party has come under sharp criticism from the opposition. Congress MP from Gurdaspur and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has alleged that AAP is involving gangsters and their families in local Sarpanch elections.
Randhawa claimed that Punjab’s current atmosphere reflects open lawlessness, alleging that the Aam Aadmi Party and the Chief Minister are providing support to criminal elements.
He said that during his visit to Kalanaur with his security team, he witnessed several police officers standing alongside a known gangster who, according to him, faces 26 to 27 criminal cases. Randhawa said the state’s law and order situation has “completely deteriorated” under the present government.
