The Indian team has got a new captain in the shortest format of cricket T20. Suryakumar Yadav will be the new captain of the Indian cricket team in the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka.

Team India will play T20 series against Sri Lanka from July 27. Meanwhile, the ODI series will start from August 2 and will be captained by Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli will also play the ODI match against Sri Lanka. At the same time, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the vice-captain of both the T20 and ODI teams.

It may be noted that Rohit and Kohli have not played an ODI for India since the 2023 World Cup final. Along with this, Harshit Rana and Ryan Parag have got a place in the ODI team for the first time.

Ryan has played T20 for India, while Harshit is yet to make his international debut. Gautam Gambhir became the head coach of Team India 2 days ago and this is his first assignment as a coach.
