Amidst the upcoming by-election for the Ludhiana West assembly seat in Punjab, the SSP Vigilance has sent a summons to Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan, after which the state's Aam Aadmi Party government suspended SSP Vigilance Jagatpreet Singh.

Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa said that this was a ploy by the Aam Aadmi Party government to intimidate the Congress candidate before the by-election. This was not a genuine investigation. Meanwhile, Punjab Congress President Raja Warring said that he will reduce the unnecessary power of the police if the Congress government is formed, Warring said that the police are unnecessarily filing cases against people whenever and wherever they want.
