After a major revolt in the Shiromani Akali Dal, the party has decided to support the BSP candidate in the Jalandhar West by-election.

The party has withdrawn its support from Surjit Kaur, who was made a candidate on the recommendation of Bibi Jagir Kaur and Gurpratap Wadala, senior leaders of the rebel faction.

Now the faction led by Sukhbir Badal will support BSP candidate Binder Lakha.

On the other hand, Bibi Surjit Kaur has also decided to remain in the election field of Jalandhar West Vidhan Sabha constituency. For this, they have sought support from the parents of Amritpal Singh and Sarabjit Singh.
