Russian President Putin congratulated Trump on his victory

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Donald Trump on his victory on Thursday. This was Putin's first comment on the U.S. election. Putin also praised Trump's courage after he was attacked during his campaign in July.

Trump had promised several times during his election campaign to end the war in Ukraine. In response, Putin said, that if Trump is talking about restoring relations with Russia and helping to resolve the Ukraine crisis, then he thinks that it deserves attention.

It is being speculated that if relations between Trump and Putin improve, it could also benefit India. Under the Biden administration, India faced pressure not to increase its oil purchases from Russia and to limit its defense ties with Moscow. However, with Trump’s return, it is suggested that this pressure on India may ease.
