Planning for Cst. Shaelyn Yang’s funeral is now underway. A statement from the family is expected in the days to come, however, the need to provide the family time and space is important as they go through the grieving process and prepare for the funeral.

The details for the funeral at this time are as follows:

Date: Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 11 a.m.

Venue: Richmond Olympic Oval, 6111 River Road, Richmond, B.C.

The RCMP is working with a number of individuals, groups and businesses that may be directly impacted, prior to providing recommendations and directions such as traffic closures to the public. Therefore, further information, media direction and traffic restrictions will be provided closer to the date. Please monitor the BC RCMP website for the most accurate information.

Your messages of condolence will be sent to Cst. Yang’s family and to Burnaby RCMP Detachment.

Seating is limited at the venue and will be reserved for family, invited guests, designated officials and uniformed first responders participating in the funeral march. Alternative viewing options are being looked at and will be shared as soon as possible.

BC Highway Patrol looks for witnesses and dash video after Highway 17 collision

A weekend collision between a motorcycle and a SUV in Delta is being investigated by BC Highway Patrol, and police are looking for more witnesses and dash-camera video to determine exactly what happened. Marathon runner Fauja Singh passed away at the age of 114

Punjabi Sikh runner Fauja Singh has passed away. He was a resident of Beas village in Jalandhar. He breathed his last at the age of 114. According to reports, Fauja Singh was outside his house in the evening when he was injured after being hit by a car. He was taken to a private hospital in Jalandhar, where he breathed his last. Known as the world's oldest marathon runner, Fauja Singh started his marathon in the year 2000, when he was 92 years old. In 2011, he made headlines around the world by participating in the Toronto Marathon and made a name for himself as the oldest marathon runner.
