The Punjab government has given the green signal to start direct sowing of paddy in the state from May 15, while transplanting through seedlings will be started in a phased manner across the state from June 1. According to the government notification, paddy sowing will start first in Faridkot, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Fazilka districts. Then from June 5, other districts including Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur will join it. Peel Regional Police say a man was shot in a "police-involved shooting" at Terminal 1 and the officer was not injured.
