A joint investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Australian Federal Police has led to the seizure of 115 kilograms of methamphetamine and the arrest of three individuals in Canada and Australia.
According to an RCMP news release, investigators identified two suspects allegedly involved in exporting drugs from Canada to Australia, prompting a cross-border probe led by the RCMP’s Federal Policing Pacific Region Drugs and Organized Crime section. Authorities later intercepted a shipment destined for Melbourne.
In January 2026, RCMP investigators, with assistance from the Canada Border Services Agency, seized 115 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in jars of pickles at the Tsawwassen Container Examination Facility in British Columbia.
On March 17, 2026, Australian authorities arrested two men, aged 40 and 63, and executed search warrants at homes in Sydney and Melbourne. Police reported seizing cash, silver bars, a luxury vehicle, jewellery, electronic devices and drug paraphernalia. The 40-year-old faces charges including attempting and conspiring to import a commercial quantity of drugs, while the 63-year-old is charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of drugs under Australia’s Criminal Code Act 1995.
On the same day, RCMP officers in British Columbia arrested a 46-year-old foreign national in Kelowna in connection with the investigation. Police said he was later released pending further investigation and has been referred to the Canada Border Services Agency for immigration enforcement action.
Search warrants were also carried out at multiple locations in Abbotsford, Lower Nicola and Kelowna, where investigators seized electronic devices and cell phones. The RCMP said its international liaison officers in the Indo-Pacific region helped coordinate intelligence-sharing and enforcement efforts across jurisdictions.
