Rahul Gandhi will visit Khanna in Punjab tomorrow. He will meet the family of Ajay, a youth recruited under the Army's Agniveer scheme of the village Ramgarh Sardars here, who was martyred in Jammu and Kashmir in January 2024.

It is to be noted that in June 2022, all the three branches of the Indian Army had launched the Agniveer recruitment scheme to recruit a large number of youth for a 4-year tenure. Agniveer can apply for a permanent job in the army on completion of 4 years of service.

Rahul Gandhi is against this, he has said that if the government of the Congress alliance is formed, then this scheme will be terminated.
