The Punjab government has increased the retirement age of medical college professors from 62 years to 65 years. The decision, made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, will benefit approximately 48 professors who were set to retire soon.

In addition, the Punjab Cabinet has resolved to fill 25% of the seats reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the Advocate General’s office.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced that the retirement age for specialist doctors in Punjab hospitals has also been raised from 58 years to 65 years. However, doctors continuing their service beyond 58 years will be appointed on a contractual basis, receiving their last drawn salary as compensation.
