Protesters chained or glued themselves to the doors of a downtown Vancouver hotel this morning as the final day of the Council of Forest Industries Convention was getting underway.

Members of Save Old Growth are demanding a legislated end to logging in BC's old growth forests and want a meeting with Forests Minister Katrine Conroy.

Premier John Horgan is addressing the convention (at 12:45) this afternoon.

The demonstrators say they are disrupting the event because the government is ``so out of touch'' that it won't meet with them and will only ``interact with itself and industry lobbyists.''

A Sikh man was targeted in a suspected hate-motivated attack in Toronto, prompting police to assign the investigation to the Hate Crime Unit. The incident happened Saturday at around 7:30 p.m. in the waterfront area near Queens Quay and Lower Spadina Avenue. According to investigators, the victim was standing in the area when an unidentified man suddenly approached him without any apparent provocation. RCMP Seek Public’s Help to Identify Suspect in Attempted Abduction of 9-Year-Old Girl

Lloydminster RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in connection with the attempted abduction of a nine-year-old girl.
