Prime Minister Mark Carney will travel to New York City on Wednesday and Thursday for meetings focused on investment, trade and economic growth, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
The PMO said Carney is expected to meet with chief executive officers, business leaders and investors during the two-day visit. The meetings are aimed at promoting Canada as a stable and competitive destination for international investment.
On Thursday, Carney is also scheduled to deliver an address at the Economic Club of New York. According to the PMO, the prime minister will outline Canada’s new economic strategy and discuss the country’s economic priorities and growth plans.
The visit comes as Canada prepares for the upcoming review period of the Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), which is expected to begin in the coming weeks. Trade and investment issues between Canada and the United States are expected to remain a key focus during the discussions.
The federal government says the trip is intended to reinforce confidence among American businesses and investors despite ongoing trade tensions and economic uncertainty.
