Canada may head to the polls on April 28. According to sources, Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to announce the election date this Sunday. Key issues in the election are anticipated to center around Trump's trade war and the growing threats to make Canada the 51st state of the U.S. The Liberals, Conservatives, and NDP have already arranged travel plans for their campaigns, with their respective war rooms also prepared in anticipation of the election announcement this weekend.

In the meantime, the Liberal Party has recruited high-profile candidates such as former Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson and former news channel host Evan Solomon. Sources also indicate that former Quebec Finance Minister Carlos Leitão will be running for the Liberals in the upcoming election.

The surge in Canadian nationalism, fueled by Trump's trade war and rhetoric, has bolstered the Liberals' chances of a comeback. Recent surveys show that the race is now tight between the Liberals and Conservatives, with the latter, led by Pierre Poilievre, holding a double-digit lead just two months ago.

Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Ford Pickup in Hope

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a Ford pickup truck on Highway 3 in the Hope area of B.C. Wednesday night. Hope RCMP said police received a report of the collision at around 8:38 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, the pedestrian had already died. Just minutes before the crash, police had also received a report of a person walking in the slow lane near the Highway 1 junction on Highway 5.
