Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made it clear that he has no intention of withdrawing from the PM race during the next election. Trudeau's comments came after recent polls showed the Liberals trailing the Conservatives by a significant margin. In an interview given to a channel, he said that he will continue as the Liberal leader.

At the same time, on questions being raised about the exemption given to home heating oil from carbon tax, he said that the purpose of this is not to secure seats for the Liberals in Atlantic Canada but to give people more time to switch to heat pumps. About 30 percent of households in Atlantic Canada use oil furnaces for home heating, and opponents say Trudeau made the partisan decision to secure seats for the Liberals.

At the same time, Trudeau admitted that more needs to be done for housing, but he said that programs such as the Rapid Housing Initiative and the First Home Savings Account will help Canadians buy a home. It is noteworthy that in the last two months, 69 to 73 percent of Canadians said in the survey that Trudeau should leave office now.
