Premier David Eby has withdrawn his order to remove American liquor from provincial stores but stated that British Columbia will not be solely reliant on the United States and will continue to explore other markets for exports.

The premier questioned President Trump’s intentions, stating that it is now clear that Trump’s goal is to make Canada the 51st province. Eby emphasized that Canada’s best defense against this is to have a strong economy and reduce its dependency on the United States.

Eby expressed his desire to believe Trump’s promise to work with Canada, but he voiced skepticism, suggesting that after 29 days, the situation may return to where it stands now. Eby emphasized that both the United States and Canada would be better off if the tariffs were never implemented.
