Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says her government is freezing its industrial carbon price effective immediately at 95-dollars per tonne of emissions.The industrial carbon price had been scheduled to increase to 110 dollars next year and continue rising to 170 dollars per tonne by 2030.She says the freeze is critical to keep Albertan industry competitive and defend jobs during Canada's tariff fight with the United States. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the effective cancellation of the federal consumer carbon price shortly after he took office in March.

Statistics Canada says preliminary figures for April continue to point to a sharp drop in return trips from the United States by Canadian residents. B-C Highway Patrol says one of its unmarked vehicles was involved in a crash that diverted traffic on the Coquihalla Highway for nine hours this weekend.Police say the crash happened Saturday morning between an unmarked police pickup truck and another pickup, which were both going north towards Kamloops.   Investigators say they've spoken with witnesses and gathered dashcam footage, but they're still on the hunt for more people who may have seen the crash.   Police say the vehicles were both badly damaged.The officer, and a 21-year-old woman and her 19-year-old passenger, both from
