Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has taken a low-key approach to the pro-Trump violence in Washington.

Trudeau spoke about the situation in a radio interview today on News 1130 in Vancouver.

He says his government will continue to make sure Canadians are well served in their relationship with the US.

Trudeau also expressed hope that everything will return to normal shortly.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canadians are deeply disturbed and saddened by what is happening.

World leaders are condemning the storming of the US Capitol by supporters of President Donald Trump.

Leaders expressed shock at the chaos that unfolded in a country they once relied upon for global leadership.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson of Britain called images of the violence, "disgraceful scenes."

Meantime, Trump has falsely claimed again that he won the election and tweeted for the rioters to go home and be peaceful when it was he who egged them on this morning.

PM Trudeau's tweet:

Canadians are deeply disturbed and saddened by the attack on democracy in the United States, our closest ally and neighbour. Violence will never succeed in overruling the will of the people. Democracy in the US must be upheld - and it will be.

The bill includes several of Trump's campaign promises, such as extending the tax breaks he took office in 2017 and eliminating the tax on overtime pay. In addition, the bill provides for billions of dollars in border security to crack down on deportations. It will be funded by cuts to green energy incentives.

Government data shows close to 80 per cent of Alberta's total cases have been reported in children, including 157 in those under the age of five. As of earlier this month, 35 people had been hospitalized, and an Alberta Health spokesperson says one is currently in intensive care. Measles symptoms include fever, coughing, runn

Two staff members of the Israeli embassy in Washington were shot and killed Wednesday evening near a Jewish museum, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said. Noem announced the deaths in a post on X after the shooting outside the Capital Jewish Museum, which is located steps away from the FBI’s field office in the nation's capital. Attorney General Pam Bondi said she was at the scene with former judge Jeanine Pirro, who serves as the U.S. attorney in Washington. Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, called the shooting a “depraved act of anti-Semitic terrorism.”
