Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced financial assistance of Rs 1600 crore for flood-hit areas of Punjab. He said that the next of kin of the deceased will be given Rs 2 lakh each and the injured Rs 50,000 each.

After conducting an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas of Punjab, PM Modi reached Gurdaspur, where he met flood victims and farmers.

It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a one-day visit to both the states to assess the flood situation in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. He has announced financial assistance of Rs 1500 crore for Himachal.
