Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre's today took aim at Prime Minister Mark Carney over the carbon tax, saying Carney is bringing it back with Carbon Tax 2.0.
Poilievre's said the Prime Minister has named it the Clean Fuel Standard and according to estimates by the Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO), it will increase gas prices by 17 cents per litre. Poilievre's said the new tax is going to look exactly like the old tax.
He added that Mark Carney thought no one would notice it but it came to the Conservatives' attention. Poilievre's announced that his party would oppose Carbon Tax 2.0 and would also demand the complete abolition of the old carbon tax.
It is noteworthy that Poilievre's was in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island today, where he addressed reporters.
