Paris Olympics 2024: India created history in hockey, defeated Australia after 52 years

In the Paris Olympics, the Indian men's hockey team created history today by defeating Australia 3-2 in the group match. India got this victory over Australia in the hockey competition after 52 years in the history of Olympics.

Before this victory, India defeated Australia in 1972. In today's match, India maintained a 2-1 lead till half time. However, Australia sparked hopes of a comeback by scoring a goal but India scored another goal by then.

However, Australia managed to score another goal with five remaining in the match but India held the lead and did not allow Australia to go further and took the match, the first goal for India was scored by Abhishek, followed by the second. And the third goal was scored by captain Harmanpreet Singh.

On the previous day, the Indian team suffered its first defeat against Belgium by 2-1 and captain Harmanpreet could not score a single goal. Now on August 4, the Indian team will play the quarter final match against the third placed team of Group A, the name of this team has not been decided yet.
