A ground crew worker has died after being struck by an aircraft at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport on Monday evening. The airport authority confirmed the death Tuesday morning.
According to Montreal police, the incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. when a Paris-bound aircraft operated by French Bee was reversing and struck the ground crew worker. The employee was rushed to hospital in critical condition but later died.
Reports indicate that the French Bee flight was originally scheduled to depart Sunday but was postponed until Monday evening.
The airport authority expressed its condolences and described the incident as a tragic accident.
Montreal police said the workplace incident has now been turned over to the federal Department of Employment and Social Development for investigation.
The identity of the deceased ground crew worker has not been released at this time.
