The Liberal Party of Canada, aiming to reclaim power, is set to release its official platform tomorrow, Saturday. This announcement was confirmed by Mark Carney during a campaign event in Niagara Falls. In his speech, Carney criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that while America remains divided, Canada’s unity makes it stronger.

During a press interaction, Carney distinguished himself from former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Responding to comparisons, he remarked, “I am not Justin Trudeau,” emphasizing that his leadership style and decisions are distinct. Highlighting his early actions as Prime Minister, he noted the abolition of the carbon tax and the reversal of a proposed increase in the capital gains tax as examples of his unique approach.

Despite Carney’s efforts to differentiate himself, opposition parties have accused him of being too similar to Trudeau, arguing that the Liberals’ return to power for a fourth term would bring little change. Nevertheless, the Liberals continue to lead in election polls, signaling strong public support for their campaign.

White Rock RCMP appeals to be safe around tracks and trains

White Rock RCMP is reminding the public that trains can move without warning, stay off the tracks, follow signals and use designated crossings. On the evening of August 13, around 7:15 p.m., White Rock RCMP responded to a train stopped blocking the crossing near the pier head. While the train was stationary, some pedestrians, including parents with children crawled under it or walked along the tracks instead of using the Balsam Street crossing. This is extremely dangerous. A stopped train can move without warning, and anyone underneath or on the tracks is at serious risk of injury or death. Po
