On the third day of the election campaign in Canada, Liberal Party Leader Mark Carney announced a pay hike for the military to boost recruitment in the Canadian Armed Forces if re-elected.

Carney also stated that he would increase other benefits for soldiers to help address the 14,000-strong shortfall in the Canadian Armed Forces. While campaigning among workers at a Canadian shipbuilding company in Halifax, Carney also pledged to grant the Canadian Coast Guard new surveillance powers.

Additionally, he responded to President Trump's threats regarding a potential merger between Canada and the U.S. Carney firmly stated that Canada would never bow to such threats. Notably, the election is occurring amid heightened tensions between the two countries over tariffs, with the Liberals hoping to capitalize on the situation.
