Apart from this, due to lack of international students, universities and colleges will face a huge budget deficit.

University Canada, an organization representing universities across Canada, has termed the new limit imposed by the government on international students as alarming.

The head of the organization, Gabriel Miller, said that nation’s international reputation has already been badly damaged in the last six months, and now the new sanctions will further damage Canada's international reputation.

Apart from this, due to lack of international students, universities and colleges will face a huge budget deficit. Immigration Minister Mark Miller admitted in an interview that provinces have not provided as much financial support as they should have for the past several years, adding that provincial governments now need to step up with schools on this issue.

It is worth noting that the Trudeau government has further reduced the study permits by 10 percent for 2025. The government has also said that the cap on the study permit is now applicable for the Master's and Ph.D. students as well, who were previously excluded.
