Langley RCMP impound two motorcycles for excessive speed

On the evening of September 9, 2025, Langley RCMP officers stopped and impounded two motorcycles involved in separate incidents of excessive speeding.

At approximately 6:15 p.m., an officer conducting proactive speed enforcement near 216 Street and 58 Avenue observed a white street bike traveling northbound at a radar-confirmed speed of 124 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. The motorcycle’s rear licence plate had been bent upward and was illegible until the officer physically adjusted it. The rider was issued violation tickets for excessive speed and an illegible licence plate. The motorcycle was impounded for seven days under the Motor Vehicle Act.

At approximately 7:54 p.m., the same officer observed a black street bike traveling northbound on 200 Street near 88 Avenue at an estimated speed of 130 km/h, weaving unsafely between vehicles. Radar confirmed a speed of 143 km/h. The rider was issued violation tickets for excessive speed and unsafe lane changes. Their motorcycle was also impounded for seven days.

"Riders need to understand that speed and reckless maneuvers on a motorcycle leave little margin for error. At those speeds, you’re not only risking your own life but the lives of everyone else on the road," said Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP. "If you choose to ride, ride responsibly, your speed can be the difference between life and death."

The Langley RCMP will continue proactive traffic enforcement to address dangerous driving behaviours on local roads.
