Federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu says the COVID-19 vaccine doses headed to Canada will be divided among provinces and territories on a per-capita basis.

That means according to the number of residents.

The federal government is setting aside an additional allotment of vaccine doses for First Nations people living on reserve.

For other Indigenous people, including Metis, First Nations and Inuit living in urban areas, they will be considered as part of the provincial population.

The message from health officials and politicians is, it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Health Minister Patty Hajdu reveals new federal modelling numbers forecast we could reach 12,000 daily new cases of COVID-19 by the beginning of January.

Hajdu had a message for Canadians, be very cautious over the holiday period.

There are now more than 73-thousand, 200 active COVID-19 cases in Canada, up from about 52,000 just three weeks ago.

A youth is in custody after police say threats were made on social media to shoot students at a high school in Stettler, Alta. According to a release from Royal Canadian Mounted Police, officers received reports Wednesday night about messages sent over the Snapchat platform involving a school in the central Alberta town, located east of Red Deer.
