Health Canada approves Moderna's updated vaccine

Health Canada has approved Moderna's updated Covid-19 vaccine.

This vaccine can be administered to Canadians six months of age or older.

This new vaccine targets the XBB.1.5 subvariant of Covid-19.

According to the decision posted this morning on Health Canada's website, children over 5 years of age can be given this vaccine in a single dose.

A single dose is recommended for previously vaccinated children between 6 months and 4 years of age and two doses for unvaccinated children.

Federal officials have also provided information on Covid-19 vaccines.

The updated new mRNA-based vaccine is monovalent, i.e. a vaccine providing protection against only one variant, which targets the XBB.1.5 subvariant of Omicron.

The agency has urged all Canadians to stay up-to-date with their Covid-19 vaccine.

CBSA seizes 266 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine at Blue Water Bridge, Woodstock man

Canada Border Services Agency officers have seized more than 266 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine at the Blue Water Bridge border crossing in Sarnia, marking one of the larger drug interceptions in the region this year. According to the CBSA, a commercial truck arriving from the United States on February 4 was referred for a secondary inspection at the Blue Water Bridge port of entry. During a search of the trailer, officers, assisted by a detector dog, discovered 16 duffle bags containing suspected methamphetamine. The total weight of the seized narcotics was reported at 266.4 kilograms
