Surrey's Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara Sahib Security has written a letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney expressing its deep disappointment over the invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the G-7.
Sikh Federation of Canada spokesperson Maninder Singh said that we all feel that this is like rubbing salt in the wounds and the Foreign Affairs Commission has also confirmed that the Sikh community has been suffering from continuous violence by agents of the Indian government for the past several years.
The letter to the Prime Minister has demanded the withdrawal of Modi's invitation and the suspension of all diplomatic relations with India until the investigation into the murder of Bhai Nijjar is completed.
It is noteworthy that PM Mark Carney had said during a press conference on Friday on concerns over Modi's invitation that my message is that we are a law-abiding country, the rule of law is working in Canada as it should and I am not going to disrupt that process.
