Fort St. John RCMP investigate second targeted drive-by shooting in recent weeks

RCMP are investigating a targeted drive-by shooting in Fort St. John that damaged several properties but did not result in any reported injuries. The incident marks the second targeted shooting in the city within the past few weeks.

According to Fort St. John RCMP, officers responded to reports of gunfire at about 1:37 a.m. Thursday in the 9800 block of 108 Avenue, near the city's downtown area. Investigators found bullet damage to a travel trailer, two nearby homes and a vehicle.

Police said no injuries were reported. As of publication, investigators have not released a description of any suspect or suspect vehicle. The Fort St. John RCMP Serious Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation.

The latest shooting follows another targeted incident on July 22 in the Finch neighbourhood. According to RCMP, gunfire was exchanged between a black sedan and a pedestrian, damaging five homes. The pedestrian, who sustained a gunshot wound, was arrested following the incident.

RCMP say they have increased patrols in Fort St. John following a recent rise in firearms-related incidents. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
