First-degree murder conviction by jury in 2017 murder of Nicholas Khabra

Nicholas Khabra, 28, was shot dead in Surrey on October 23, 2017.

In May 2018, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, began a joint investigation into the case, during which several suspects were under investigation, including Brandon Teixeira.

Brandon Texeira has now been found guilty of first-degree murder. Connect FM spoke to CFSEU ​​spokesperson Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha regarding the case, she said “obtaining charges against Texeira was not an easy process. She added, “there was an attempt to arrest Teixeira in 2018, but he eluded the police and escaped. Teixeira was subsequently arrested in California in December 2019 and extradited to Canada in 2020.”

On Aug. 25, Teixeira was found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and use of a firearm with intent in the murder of Nicholas Khabra.

“The success of this investigation was the result of effective collaboration between CFSEU-BC and IHIT in response to a violent group of individuals. I commend the incredible dedication and tremendous police work of both teams that has resulted in this success. Our investigators will continue to be relentless and resilient in our efforts to pursue those individuals who cause harm in our communities,” said Assistant Commissioner Manny Mann, Chief Officer of CFSEU-BC.

Cpl. Sangha said that the sentencing in the case is yet to be announced, and that a press conference will be organized to share more details about the case in detail once this process is completed.

She said the agency was satisfied with its investigation and its outcome, given Teixeira's violent background.
