RCMP officers executed a search warrant at a Lake Country residence on May 25, seizing multiple firearms and ammunition as part of an ongoing investigation.

Lake Country RCMP say officers seized multiple firearms, including prohibited and restricted weapons, during the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the 12000 block of Shoreline Drive on May 25.

According to an RCMP news release, the warrant was obtained following reports that a firearm had been discharged in a Lake Country neighbourhood earlier this month. The search was carried out with assistance from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team.

Police said officers seized eight firearms along with ammunition from the property. The residence was unoccupied at the time the warrant was executed, and no arrests were announced as of publication time.

“The RCMP appreciate the public’s cooperation in staying out of the area and observing roadblocks, which enabled officers to execute the search warrant safely,” Staff Sgt. Jon Collins, commander of the Lake Country RCMP detachment, said in the release.

RCMP said the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.

The investigation relates to a reported firearm discharge earlier in May, though RCMP have not released further details about that incident or identified any suspects.
