Drug Smuggling Case: Bikram Majithia Interrogated for Seven Hours by Special Investigation Team

Bikram Majithia was interrogated for seven to eight hours today by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the multi-crore drug smuggling case in Punjab at the Patiala Police Lines. After the interrogation, Majithia spoke to reporters, stating that he had filed an application in the Supreme Court requesting the concerned parties to expedite the disposal of the case. He mentioned that the court had set today’s date, and he had appeared for questioning at the court's request.

It is important to note that in December 2021, an FIR was registered against Majithia in connection with the drugs racket case under the Charanjit Singh Channi-led government in Punjab. He was sent to jail in January 2022, and later granted bail by the High Court in August 2022.

Hit-and-Run in Nanaimo Leaves One Person Dead

Nanaimo RCMP are investigating a hit-and-run collision that occurred on August 16 and resulted in the death of a pedestrian. 9 Migrants’ Bodies Recovered After Boat Capsizes Off Libya

Calgary-Shaw by-election set for Sept. 14 following vacant seat

Elections Alberta has confirmed that a by-election in the Calgary-Shaw provincial constituency will be held Sept. 14. The official writ for the election has now been issued. The seat has been vacant since May, when former Environment and Protected Areas Minister Rebecca Schulz resigned following a recall petition launched against her.
