The Democratic Party has won control of both the US Senate and the House of Representatives in the midterm elections, securing control of Congress for the remainder of President Donald Trump’s term.
President Trump has acknowledged that the war with Iran played a significant role in the election results. Rising living costs have also been identified as a major factor behind the Republican Party’s losses. Voters expressed growing frustration over inflation and everyday expenses, contributing to a strong electoral setback for the Trump administration.
In the Senate races, Democrats secured victories in traditionally Republican strongholds, including Texas, Ohio and Kansas. In Kansas, a Democratic candidate won a Senate seat for the first time in nearly 100 years.
In Michigan, Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed also won his Senate race. His victory makes him the first Muslim elected to serve in the US Senate.
