The names of the candidates can be announced within three days for the remaining 5 seats by the Congress in Punjab. The names of four contenders from each constituency were sent by the Congress Screening Committee of the state.

The party is busy discussing this. The list is expected to be released by 27. According to sources, Rana Gurjit Singh or his son Inderpreet Singh are set to get tickets from Sri Anandpur Sahib or Khadur Sahib.

Former ministers Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Sanjay Talwar are in the race for the ticket from Ludhiana. The names of Gurdaspur MLA Birindermeet Singh Pahra and former minister Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa are being discussed. Apart from this, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa is also considered to be a strong contender.

It is to be noted that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress won 8 out of 13 seats. This election was jointly contested by Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP and won 4 seats, while Aam Aadmi Party got one seat.

Early morning stabbing sends two to hospital

On May 15, 2025 at approximately 3:40 am, Langley RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance in the 19800 block of 56 Avenue.
