As temperatures in the low to mid 30s reach BC this weekend, forecasters say the warmth does not herald another heat dome like the one that killed hundreds in BC last June.
But the City of Vancouver says temperatures will be high enough to warrant the launch of its program aimed at helping residents beat the heat.
Vancouver says it will offer cooling stations in community centres and libraries and add water fountains and bottle-filling stations.
City staff will also monitor outdoor spaces for those suffering heat-related illness; and do more checks on anyone prone to heat-related problems.
