Federal Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna says there is no question climate change is real, and she says it's accelerating.

McKenna made the comment during an event in Edmonton this morning.

She pointed to BC, saying Lytton was incinerated ``in a matter of hours'' by a wildfire and hundreds of B-C seniors died in a recent heat wave, while some parts of Europe received as much rain in three days as they get in three months.

She says Canadians must take advantage of solutions that already exist, such as electric buses, because the future must be sustainable, and once we shed the COVID-19 crisis, we'll still have to address the climate crisis.

Catherine Mckenna on Twitter:

Investing in public transit is at the heart of a clean & inclusive recovery. Today our govt. invested almost $400M for the Edmonton Capital Line South Ext. from Century Park - Ellerslie Road reducing commute times & helping residents get around in cleaner & more affordable ways.

UCP backs Alberta remaining in Canada after public split over separation stance

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says the United Conservative Party supports Alberta remaining in Canada following conflicting public statements from party leadership ahead of a proposed fall referendum on separation. The clarification came after UCP president Rob Smith said earlier this week the party would not take a position on Alberta separation before the vote. Danielle Smith has repeatedly stated she supports Alberta staying within Confederation. In a new statement issued Wednesday, the party said it supports Alberta remaining in Canada and “has always supported that position.” The dis
