B.C. reports 254 new COVID-19 cases and 1 death

B.C. is reporting 254 new cases of COVID-19, including one epi-linked case, for a total of 351,141 cases in the province.

There are 419 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 63 are in intensive care.

In the past 24 hours, one new death (Fraser Health) has been reported, for an overall total of 2,915.

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. The outbreaks at Three Links Manor (Interior Health), Amica on the Gorge and Nanaimo Seniors Village (Island Health) are over, for a total of 14 facilities with ongoing outbreaks.

Since December 2020, the Province has administered 11,382,631 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines.

Quebec universities see steep decline in international student enrolment amid tighter immigration rules

A group representing Quebec universities is reporting that international student enrolment has dropped sharply compared to last year. Preliminary data from the Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire indicates that enrolment for the current fall session has plummeted by more than 21 per cent at the master's level and by 12.1 per cent overall. The sharpest drops were among four schools in the Université du Québec network, which reported between 17.1 per cent and 43.5 per cent fewer international students than in fall 2024. Montreal's Concordia University was also high on the list with a 16.

SPS Launches Body-Worn Camera Pilot

Surrey Police Service (SPS) is launching a six-month body-worn camera pilot project this fall.
