Abbotsford Police Major Crime Detectives are seeking help from the public who may have dashcam footage of an alleged sexual assault in Abbotsford early Friday morning.

Detectives are in the preliminary states of this investigation and details are limited, however, we can advise that the Major Crime Unit is investigating a sexual assault that occurred at approximately 1:00 am in the area of Peardonville Road and Livingstone Ave. The female victim was out for a walk, met the male suspect and they began to engage in conversation. They walked to the northeast area of the Peardonville overpass; a short time later the suspect sexually assaulted the victim.

The suspect is described as a five-foot-eight Indigenous man in his late 20’s to early 40’s with long dark hair pulled behind his ears, small dark eyes, dark thick eyebrows, a thin moustache. He was wearing a white jacket with a red stripe down the arms, and dark pants, running shoes and a backpack.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released. The suspect is not known to the victim.

RCMP marine unit rescues 11 people after canoe overturns in Burrard Inlet

Report says Alberta has widest gender pay gap in Canada

Women in Alberta continue to earn less than men than in any other province, according to a new report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA). The report found that women in Alberta earn 64 cents for every dollar earned annually by men, compared with a national average of 72 cents. Family distracted store staff while children swiped jewelry: Calgary police

U.S. tourist dies after cyclist collision at downtown Vancouver crosswalk

A 72-year-old man from the United States has died after being struck by a cyclist while crossing a downtown Vancouver street, according to the Vancouver Police Department.
