An Abbotsford man was sentenced yesterday (February 22nd) after pleading guilty for his part in the November 2020 Attempt Murder at the Sandman Signature Hotel.

Many will recall the somewhat bizarre events of November 17th, 2020, when a man and woman were found suffering from gunshot wounds outside the front entrance of the Sandman Signature Hotel in North Langley. A gold van was reported fleeing the scene and was found burning a short time later in Walnut Grove. Two males were seen jumping from the burning vehicle as it rolled through the intersection of 88th Avenue and 216th Street.

Ishaan MUTNEJA, aged 24 of Chilliwack, was arrested nearby. MUTNEJA has been charged with Attempt Murder and has plead not guilty. He will be tried in April of this year.

Joshua Mitchel PAZ, 24-years-old, plead guilty to Attempted Murder of the male victim and received a prison sentence of 10 years. He was also sentenced to six years prison for Aggravated Assault of the female. The two sentences are to be served concurrently.

Quick reporting of the events from the community culminated in both arrests and dash camera footage provided to police was vital in advancing this investigation.

Superintendent Adrian Marsden, Officer in Charge Langley RCMP, Community involvement proved to be a critical component in this investigation. If you are a witness to criminal activity, I encourage you to come forward as the information you provide could be key to solving that particular crime.

China imposed significant tariffs on Canadian canola this year following Ottawa's move to match U.S. tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles. Pierre Poilievre targets Mark Carney's Mexico trip

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre today targeted Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to Mexico, saying that Carney has returned empty-handed. Poilievre said that the Prime Minister's visit was all about air-to-air talk and nothing but fake deals. He said that our free trade with Mexico has been in place for three decades and Carney's visit has added nothing new to it except a photo shoot. Poilievre is also attacking the Prime Minister over the delay in the federal budget, saying that Carney calls himself a 'great economist' but never ask him why the budget was delayed so much or how big the
