33-year-old man charged after alleged armed carjacking during Red Deer test drive

A 33-year-old man is facing multiple criminal charges after an alleged armed carjacking during a vehicle test drive at a Red Deer dealership, according to the RCMP.

Police said the incident occurred at about 11:26 a.m. Tuesday. RCMP allege the suspect produced a firearm as the test drive concluded and forced a dealership employee out of the vehicle before driving away.

According to RCMP, multiple police units responded immediately and arrested the suspect a short time later. Investigators said the stolen vehicle was being driven at speeds of up to 165 km/h before it was safely recovered.

The accused has been charged with robbery with a firearm, possession of identity documents without lawful excuse, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. RCMP said additional charges under Alberta's Traffic Safety Act are still being considered.

Minor Arrested After Gun Sighting Report at Lloydminster High School

A minor was arrested Wednesday after a report of a gun being seen at a school in Lloydminster, a city located on the Alberta-Saskatchewan border.
