Multiple ferry delays after man arrested aboard vessel in Nanaimo, B.C.

The Nanaimo RCMP is investigating a report of an individual who went missing from a BC Ferry. The incident occurred shortly after 9 PM Thursday August 25, 2022, and involved the BC Ferry Coastal Inspiration that had departed from Duke Point for Tsawwassen at 8:15 PM.Nanaimo RCMP were requested to meet the ferry at the Duke Point terminal for a report of a vehicle passenger who was acting erratic and causing concern for crew and passengers. Police allege Noah Madrano lured the girl through an online platform then abducted her and took her across the U-S border in June. A Philippine ferry carrying 82 passengers and crew caught fire as it was approaching a port south of Manila on Friday and at least 40 of those onboard have been rescued, coast guard officials said. White Rock RCMP appeals to be safe around tracks and trains

White Rock RCMP is reminding the public that trains can move without warning, stay off the tracks, follow signals and use designated crossings. On the evening of August 13, around 7:15 p.m., White Rock RCMP responded to a train stopped blocking the crossing near the pier head. While the train was stationary, some pedestrians, including parents with children crawled under it or walked along the tracks instead of using the Balsam Street crossing. This is extremely dangerous.
