Someone who bought a Lotto Max lottery ticket in Vancouver is 15 million dollars richer, but they will have to act quickly if they hope to collect the windfall. The BC Lottery Corporation says the ticket was purchased in August last year and the prize winners have 52 weeks to come forward, or they will forfeit the cash. The ticket was for the August 13, 2021, Lotto Max draw and carried the winning numbers of 1-14-17-20-28-32 and 38. So far this year, BC players have redeemed more than 64-million dollars from Lotto Max payouts.

Police: Parade shooting suspect contemplated 2nd shooting
The man charged with killing seven people at an Independence Day parade confessed to police that he unleashed a hail of bullets from a rooftop in suburban Chicago and then fled to the Madison, Wisconsin, area, where he contemplated shooting up an event there. That's according to authorities who spoke Wednesday. Robert Crimo III turned back to Illinois, where he was later arrested after deciding he was not prepared to pull off a shooting in Wisconsin. Three die in head-on crash along Trans-Canada Highway through B.C.'s Shuswap region
RCMP are investigating a head-on crash in British Columbia's Shuswap region that left three people dead. A statement from Chase RCMP says police were called to an area along the Trans-Canada Highway near Sorrento Tuesday afternoon. It says all the occupants of both vehicles died at the scene. Police say witnesses report a black sedan crossed into the path of an oncoming westbound SUV, hitting it head on. The RCMP say the crash killed a 51-year-old Sorrento man, a 67-year old woman and a 60-year-old man, both from Blind Bay. The BC Coroners Service and police continue to investigate.

China: Xian under lockdown after city reports first cases of new Omicron subvariant
China on Wednesday enforced a lockdown in Xian, home to 13 million people after the city reported the first cases of a new Omicron subvariant.
The lockdown was implemented after Xian reported 18 COVID-19 infections from Saturday to Monday, all of which are of the Omicron BA.5.2 subvariant, according to local disease control officials, reported CNN.
BA.5.2 is a sub-lineage of BA.5, which is already dominant in the US and appears to escape antibody responses among both people previously infected with COVID-19 and those who have been fully vaccinated and boosted, according to researchers.

First block of tickets open for Mass at Commonwealth Stadium
Free tickets for the Pope's mass in Edmonton are up for grabs starting this morning. Pope Francis is to speak at Commonwealth Stadium on July 26th.
A second block of tickets is to be released on July 11th and a final block on July 18th.
Priority seating is being given to former residential school survivors, elders and knowledge keepers. All tickets are free and will be available at papalvisit.ca. Only six tickets can be ordered at a time.
Commonwealth Stadium has a capacity of 60,000.
The pope will be in the Edmonton area between Sunday, July 24 and Wednesday, July 27.

Alberta extends electricity rebate program until December at a cost of about $600M
EDMONTON - The Alberta government says it will extend its electricity rebates until the end of the year as the cost of living continues to rise.
Dale Nally, who's the associate minister of natural gas and electricity, says the United Conservative government is doubling the rebate to help reduce the financial burden on Albertans.
The government says the electricity rebate program will now offer about $600 million in relief through 2022.
It says the program will provide nearly two million homes, farms and small businesses with a monthly $50 bill credit each month from July until December.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will get married to Dr Gurpreet Kaur in a private ceremony at his residence in Chandigarh tomorrow.
Mann was divorced from his first wife almost six years back. According to sources, Mann (48) will marry Dr Gurpreet Kaur, a physician by profession who hails from Haryana's Kurukshetra.
The wedding ceremony will be attended by Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and his family.
