An Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza has killed at least 20 people, mostly women and children, Palestinian officials said Tuesday, as Israel wages a nearly monthlong air and ground operation in what was alreadythe most isolated and heavily destroyedpart of the territory.

B.C. sees strong winds along the coast, winter storm warnings for Interior highways
Environment Canada is warning of strong winds and heavy rain over much of coastal British Columbia and a large swath of the central Interior, while winter storm warnings are in effect for stretches of highway in the south.
The weather office says gusts of wind could reach speeds of up to 90 or 100 kilometres an hour over southern Vancouver Island, including the Victoria area.
It says gusts could jump to speeds of 110 kilometres an hour over northern Vancouver Island and stretching up to Bella Bella on the central coast.

Quebec plans to force new doctors to stay in the province and work in public system
The provincial government says it will force new doctors trained in Quebec to work in the province's public health-care system for the first years of their practice.
Health Minister Christian Dubé told a Montreal radio station this morning that those who want to leave Quebec or work in the private system will face "consequences."
The minister announced Sunday evening he plans to table a new bill to force new family physicians and specialist doctors to start their careers in Quebec.

Punjab byelections 2024: Change in date for bypolls in 4 constituencies
The date for the bypoll in four Assembly seats in Punjab has been rescheduled. On Monday, the Election Commission announced changes to the earlier scheduled byelections for 15 Assembly seats across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Kerala. Alberta Premier Smith gets 91 per cent support in leadership review
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith received 91.5 per cent support from her United Conservative Party members in a leadership review vote at its annual convention.
