Alberta's justice minister says the city of Edmonton is failing to keep people safe from violent crime, particularly on public transit, and he's ordering Mayor Amarjeet Sohi to provide answers. Toronto police say a man has died after an interaction with officers during which a police gun was fired. Police Chief James Ramer says officers were called to the city's east end around 1 p.m. on reports of a person with a gun. He says officers were confronted by an individual, and that person is now dead. Ramer declined to give more details, citing an investigation by the province's police watchdog. Police say an adult and two youths are in custody for ``suspected involvement'' in the death of a 41-year-old man last night in Abbotsford. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the victim was attacked near the parking lot of a large shopping mall but it has not released a cause of death. The City of Kamloops says one person has died in hospital following an ammonia leak at an industrial park. A spokeswoman with BC Emergency Health Services has previously said one person was taken to hospital in critical condition and two others were there in stable condition. She says six other patients in stable condition were assessed at the scene after five paramedic crews and two supervisors responded to a call at about 10:30 a.m. The city says in a written statement that the RCMP and firefighters responded to the scene and several businesses were evacuated. Actor Ray Liotta best known for playing mobster Henry Hill in ``Goodfellas'' and baseball player Shoeless Joe Jackson in ``Field of Dreams'' has died at the age of 67. Representatives for Liotta tell NBC and the Hollywood Reporter that he died in his sleep last night in the Dominican Republic, where he was filming a new movie. Liotta was born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1954, and was adopted out of an orphanage when he was six months old.
