Jinny Sims criticises Doug McCallum on new stdium issue, Gordie Hogg calls it White Elephant

Just three of the thousands of reasons Surrey does not need a 60,000 seat stadium from Jinny Sims, Surrey Forward Mayoral candidate. "First, cost of living: Surrey taxpayers cannot pay for Doug McCallum’s folly," says Sims. "Already we are paying over $1,000 per resident for the ill-advised move to the Surrey Police Service, we simply cannot afford to pay thousands more for new stadium." "Second, who is supposed to play there? The BC Lions? The Whitecaps? This is not a case study for Field of Dreams; Doug McCallum is no Kevin Costner in Iowa. Even if we had an anchor tenant lined up, and Mc

Ben Lawson says the 3-D guns are a growing trend and function the same as regular firearms. Brandon Vincent-Wagner, 24, and Justin Kumar, 27, were arrested on Aug. 16 and charged. Vincent-Wagner is scheduled to a

Some services returning to Calgary Municipal Building after break-in incident

The City of Calgary says it is reopening some of its service counters at its Municipal Building after a break-in and fire earlier this month. Services on the third floor of the building were affected by water damage because the sprinkler system was triggered. The low-income transit pass, tax advisory and cashier services are back in the downtown building. Officials say the planning and development service counter, which had extensive damage, will remain in its temporary location at the Whitehorn Multi-Services Centre until further notice.

According to health officials, the expansion will allow up to 420 additional patients to receive treatment each month. Dr. Sylvie Bourque, executive medical director at BC Cancer’s Surrey centre, said demand for chemotherapy services in Surrey continues to rise. She said the expanded capacity is expected to help the hospital meet a key target: starting first treatment for more than 90 per cent of patients within two weeks of
