A first-year student studying at a private university in Punjab's Jalandhar has died by suicide, said the Punjab Police on Wednesday. The incident took place on September 20 in the evening. Edmonton Public Schools says more than 6,800 students are home sick with a respiratory illness. The board sent a letter home to parents Monday but it is not clear if the illness is COVID-19. BC's police watchdog is investigating after a woman was hospitalized with serious injuries sustained during her arrest by officers in Victoria earlier this month. The Independent Investigations Office says police responded to a report of a woman yelling at an intersection near Beacon Hill Park. It says police called the office to investigate, indicating that the woman had a weapon and she was taken into custody after three hours of negotiations. It says her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
